Carlos Sanchez ~ Photographer / Artist / Instructor / Surfer & LIS ADVOCATE

School Of The World
Costa Rica

Originally from Costa Rica and now living on the central Pacific in Playa Jaco, Carlos has a variety of interests and expertise when it comes to art.  He has studied photography in Costa Rica, Mexico and New York City and has made independent art exhibitions in each.  In addition to photography Carlos is quite the painter and displays his talents on canvas, as well as on walls and buildings.  In addition to his traditional art studies in Costa Rica he is also an accomplished graffiti artist.  As if he were not busy enough with photography classes and his own shoots, Carlos has also been a surf instructor and the School of the World for the past 12 years.

In the past few years I have the pleasure and the honor of visiting Central Costa Rica and embracing and learning from the Surf, Art and Skate Community there.  Carlos Sanchez reached out to me through artistic and positive energy to discuss the power & purpose of LIS and his views on the world as it is today, art, surf culture and the power of STOKED ENERGY to create synergy amongst the global community.  Carlos is an AMAZING human being as well as a
Photographer / Artist / Instructor / Surfer & LIS ADVOCATE.  Carlos is also the creator owner and operator of NOMAD TATTOO ART in Jaco Costa Rica….. Treasured friend…. Visionary…..
PURA VIDA Carlos!

Rob Machado

Rob Machado & The GREEN TEAM click here

Rob Machado  & the GREEN TEAM

The Green Team provides recycling support at surf contests   and beach events. For several years, the Rob Machado Foundation has partnered with Solana Center to oversee recycling at the Switchfoot Bro-Am, a surf contest and beach concert attracting nearly 15,000 people.

By setting up temporary recycling stations and educating the public on what can be diverted, the Green Team diverted a record-breaking 83% of waste — or 2,414 pounds — from the landfill at the 2015 Bro-Am.

RMF + Solana Center introduced composting to the Bro-Am, sending 785 pounds of food to be composted rather than thrown away.

The Green Team brings together volunteers of all backgrounds, from ages nine to 75, and from near and far, including Mexico and Chicago.

Artist Al Scholl more...

Artist Al Scholl

picture-976   We are honored and blessed to have had the pleasure of connecting with the
Legendary Artist Al Scholl this summer here at LIS!  Al is a painter from
San Diego California who has become an inspiration and superstar
LIVE Art Music painter at some of the United States Largest Reggae Festivals!
LIVE Music Painters are a POSITIVE INSPIRATION who show us that Art from the
hands of a Master can provide us many cosmic dimensions and opportunities to see
and experience STOKED ENERGY simultaneously through the connection of Art
itself and LIVE the feeling and message of LIVE MUSIC!
Al Scholl is not only a LIVE MUSIC painter, but also a poet, philanthropist, father, teacher, and an Ire example of how the POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING can heal, transform, and focus the soul of many to lead more productive, creative, and giving LIVES!!
We are HONORED and HIGHLY STOKED to have Al Scholl as a NEW LIS Advocate, friend and Leader and will be accompanying Al next year on his Tour Project “Artifornia” which will also be a documentary that will be featured on Live It Stoked both on the web site and our ROKU Channel!
Stay tuned for more INCREDIBLE ART from Al Scholl and more on Artifornia!
LIVE IT STOKED!!!!

Al Scholl is a self taught artist that specializes in waves, seascapes, and sunsets from the surfer’s perspective. He started painting at 30 years old. He promotes himself on a regular basis by doing LIVE ART!! Al can be seen on stage painting with Southern California’s finest reggae musicians on a regular basis. He follows many local bands to include the Devastators, Stranger, Upfull Rising, Project out of Bounds, IyaTerra, Arise Roots, Sunny Rude, Roots Covenant, High Tide, Maka Roots and many more. “I have had the honor to paint with the likes of Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse, Tribal Seeds, Skatalites, Slightly Stoopid, Don Carlos, Big Mountain, Members of Santana, Black Seeds, Iration, and so many more.

“My art has turned into a musically inspired dream come true where I can express my passion to my favorite music.” Al starts with a white canvas, and inspired by the live music creates a painting for the crowd by the end of the evening!

“My two most inspirational tools are the Ocean, and Live Music. Painting and Surfing are my passions and I love to bring smiles to people with the use of vivid color. I paint off the top of my head and try to stay as unique and original as possible, while increasing my speed and creativity! I think when people see the process they become attached to the art in some way. When I have free time I can be seen at many local San Diego beaches free painting to the pure beauty of Southern California.”

6-year-old surfer girl won’t let disease wipe out her serious skills

Nicknamed “The Flying Squirrel,” 6-year-old Quincy Symonds is making    waves not only for her incredible surfing skills, but also for her  courage while coping with a genetic condition called congenital adrenal hyperplasia.

With a growing social-media following both on Instagram and YouTube, the Australian phenom might just be the best 6-year-old surfer in the world.

“I have never seen a surfer male or female this good at such an early age — and I’ve taught thousands of kids to surf,” her coach, Anthony Pope.
